Ensemble Illyrica is a chamber ensemble based in Croatia and Austria, which performs standard classical repertoire, folk-inspired music, and genre-bending commissioned works from composers. Illyrica also collaborates on multidisciplinary projects with other performers and visual artists. Listed as one of “Croatia’s most exciting experimental bands” (Timeout.com), the ensemble also aims to bring new music to audiences by giving concerts in small villages and in untraditional classical music venues.
Hailed for their “creative ecstasy, freshness, tonal harmony and rhythmic clarity” (Novi List), Illyrica has performed in major venues and festivals across Austria, Slovenia, Czech Republic, and Croatia, such as Wiener Musikverein, Kultursommer Wien, Festival Arsana, Lednice-Valtice Festival, Zagreb Biennale, Scena Amadeo, Summer Magic in the Diocletian, and Hvar Summer Festival. The ensemble also gave their Ireland debut with a concert in Dublin for the commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the International Recognition of the Republic of Croatia.
In 2022, Illyrica released their debut classical album “Ensemble Illyrica” on Hitchtone Music. This coming season, Illyrica records their second album, featuring music written and arranged for the ensemble by Lana Janjanin (HR), David Crowell (USA), Mak Murtić (HR), Joel Hoffman (USA)
